Science Fair

Thompson School District will be hosting its annual district science fair on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Walt Clark Middle School. Students in grades K-12 are invited to particpate. This year, Mrs. Byrnes will be hosting science fair coaching sessions at Namaqua. Interested students are invited to attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 24th at 3:30.

Project proposals must be submitted to the district by Friday, October 10th and approvals will be sent out by Friday October 17th. Full schedule and proposal template will be provided at the required informational meeting.

All projects must be completed and data collected at home, but students are invited to attend weekly coaching sessions with Mrs. Byrnes to learn about the steps and components required to present their project and assemble their board. These will be held on Wednedays from 3:30-4:30pm and transportation home is required. Students in 2nd - 5th grade are welcome to attend and those in K-1 may attend with the support of an adult.

Elementary students may compete in the following categories:

  • Life Sciences projects ask questions about living things such as plants and animals.
  • Earth Sciences related to rocks, dirt, water and space.
  • Physical Sciences study matter, energy, and chemistry.
